If you are going get any of Chris Philbrook's books, this is how I recommend buying them..as a collection! Once you start reading one you will binge read the series! The world of Elmoryn is well crafted, filled with dark creatures and hopeful characters. Set in a fantasy realm, these books create characters that you will instantly relate to. The line between heroes and villains is stretched quite thin in this series which creates a wonderful dilemma in the reader as to who is really in the right or wrong.
I highly recommend this series!
If you've gotten this far then you've already read the descriptions for each book so I won't give them to you again. What I will say is that in my honest opinion this is my favorite dark fantasy series. Chris Philbrook has done a great job creating a rich fantasy world with a splash of steampunk and some inspiration from Lovecraft. Once you've started reading The Kinless Trilogy you're not going to want to stop.
And on top of that, you're getting 3 books for $7.99. You can't beat that.
I'm a die hard zompoc fan. It's not often I stray from that genre unless it's to classic dystopian. After reading the genius that is Adrian's Undead Diary (easily the best zompoc series ever and I've read a ton) I was compelled to check out more from this author. The Kinless Trilogy did not disappoint! Fun, original and inventive, you'll find yourself hopelessly lost in the complex world of Elmoryn from the first page to the last.
Chris Philbrook is an amazing author who has once again created a fantastic world that is so easy for the reader to lose themself in. I loved everything about each of these books the characters are believable and relatable, the storyline is entertaining throughout all three books, and his style of writing just draws you in from the first page. This story reminded me at times of The Dark Tower epic, with a splash of necromancy, a touch of wizardry, and a similar yet fantasy land that you can easily build up in your head. I highly recommend this series, as well as all of his others!!!
Not my normal genre but after Adrian's Undead Diary,
I decided to check out the other "sides" of this author.
Wow!! I was not disappointed at all. I just kept wondering when the movie was coming because I'm first in line )
It's was sometimes wordy for someone that loves the fast pace of a good blood and guts zombie story but the good stuff kept me enthralled and wanting more!!!
Completed the Trilogy in 2 days, just couldn't put it down )

Chris Philbrook's remarkable trilogy develops an inspired and fleshed out world that in many ways resembles our own. The world-building is king here. The characters don't suffer though. Each character starts as a kernel, an enigma, and grows enormously throughout the series. The magic system, for those who care about such things, is well-developed over the course of the series, but with plenty of room for future growth and explanation in later works.
The world of Elmoryn is not just another fantasy with stock characters like dwarves, elves, dragons, etc.
Elmoryn is a post-apocatyptic, quasi-industrial recovering society with many competing nations, religions, and creeds. I cannot overstate how awesome the concept is. Chris Philbrook won a wide audience with his smash-hit series, Adrian's Undead Diary, myself included. But he has continued to innovate in many genres.
Do yourself a favor. Get it. Get it all.
1st. Book in the series was a.bit depressing, the 2.nd and third were easier on the psyche. Overall I enjoyed it!
Picked up the first one and had to complete the series. Well written and completely consuming.
